The new Feed-in-Tariffs (FiTs), from 12th December 2011, apply to homes businesses and public buildings that generate electricity using renewable energy systems.
Note: There has been NO reduction in FiTs for energy produced by wind or hydro systems

These payments are:
- Paid for every kWh (unit) of electricity generated, no matter whether it is consumed on site or exported to the grid
- Indexed linked, so they rise with inflation
- Tax free (for domestic only, businesses will be taxed)
